In April I hosted a contest called 25 Words or Less. The website stated that the winners would be announced on May 1st. That was incorrect. I am utilizing Strutta’s sweepstakes engine, so it posts a standard announcement since their software offers five different types of contests that can be run. The winners were selected by May 1st, however, each potential winner has 10 days to get the release forms and affidavits back to me. Only then can I announce the official winners.
Thankfully, all the winners got their forms back in a very timely manner. Had the first place winner not sent the forms back, then the second place winner would become the first and the third place would have become the second. That would have continued until I received all the required forms back. Had people not responded, I may not have been able to post the winners until the end of May.
So, without any further adieu, here are the winners:

Hello,
Can you tell me how to upload a picture to the Mommy and Me Contest. I get the pop up window to upload image but it won’t do anything. Thanks A.
I thought the rule was to be 25 words or less. Did I read the rules right or was that just the name of the contest?
It is 25 words or less. The first two lines;
I enter contests, one-by-one.
I am so lucky. Winning is FUN!
are supplied by the contest sponsor/host, and the last two lines are to be supplied by the entrant, in 25-words-or-less.
Does that clear it up for you?
I had thought also that it was stated VERY clear that it was 25 words or less TOTAL, including what had been supplied by the host, that we were supposed to complete the phrase/poem and total was to be no more than 25 words.
I guess what was printed was not what was meant.
25 words or less refers to the last two lines of the jingle, poem or phrase. It was a very standard statement used in thousands of contests decades ago.
I would suggest you read The Prize Winner of Defiance Ohio (sub-titled How My Mother Raised 10 Kids on 25 Words or Less) by Terry Ryan http://www.contestqueen.com/fromthe/2008/07/18/the-prize-winner-of-defiance-ohio/ and The Complete Guide to Prize Contests, Sweepstakes and How to Win Them by Selma Glasser http://www.contestqueen.com/fromthe/2008/05/08/the-complete-guide-to-prize-contests-sweepstakes-and-how-to-win-them/ to better understand how this type of contest in entered and won.
I did not enter that one, my mom died in 1988, and was unsure if my daughter and I could enter
I am a perfectionist though, when I did the contest on the poem, I wanted it done like they teach in universities, same syllable count and rhyming etc…LOL
I might not be doing many more contests anymore soon though, been offered a freelance position writing, which would guarantee me money, a man in sweden interested…might go that route, because I enter so many and have not received many wins..so…seems to time consuming and not enough benefits
