If you read my blog, you read my post called Goal Setting & Winning, and know I recently set several specific goals for myself. Another goal I have that I didn’t post is; I am a globally well-respected sweepstakes promotional marketing expert. Following Mike Dooley’s advice, “The HOWs are the domain of the Universe”, I set that goal fully aware I did not know how it would come about.
Last week two things occurred I feel brought me closer to my goal.
- I realized my website was not search engine optimized for the words Sweepstakes Expert or Contest Expert. I am now in the process of updating my website to fulfill that void.
- I had a fan gift me an afternoon of media training. I had media training in the past so I would be a good interviewee. This media training was so I would be a better interviewer. With Aprile’s help (my assistant), we revamped my entire interview process. I think my interview, Take A Look, from a professional standpoint, is my best yet.
What goals do you have? We notice the leaps, but we also need to notice, and be grateful for, the little steps. What little steps are occurring in your life (maybe even on a daily basis), that are getting you closer to your goals?

You set a high standard, but I understand that when you’re working in a professional capacity you have to do a LOT to facilitate what you’re doing! (This was happening to me professionally in both writing and TV production in the past.) So my goals are now — to write these movie reviews (since I was just offered a job for a site on-line, and about six or seven movies should come in all at once that will have to be written quickly — and of course first you have to WATCH them, which takes time, and think about what you’re going to say after studying them and realizing what’s really going on in each movie!). Secondly, I want to create even more of my two-dimensional collages that use recycled magazines as a base (and ARE still art pieces, since you can use any material to create art!) and frame them and make color prints of the smaller ones to show to galleries when — thirdly, I attempt to get more solo shows and enter more individual pieces in group shows. Fourth, I want to attend more and more events, as many as I can, in order to make social connections (met a documentary film-maker and a well-known poet when I went to the art opening of a teacher I had at university, long ago!, this past week-end) for my work. Fifth — keep trying to understand what I’m doing in entering contests, and how just like everyone else there’s the power of recognition, when I win I fell special and pulled out from the crowd and I like that feeling (you would say that it’s FUN!) and so I’ll try to keep doing the dreary routine parts of entering in order to continue to get that feeling!
I do agree Christina that you do set a higher standard. But you do need to have your Goals reflect as realistic of a plan as possible. Often times my Life coach Rob Scott discusses the fact that many people overwhelm themselves with goals that are unattainable. I like to view each task as an individual process. This way each task gets my full attention and helps me forget about what else I have on my plate. Also you should not get too attached to that winning feeling, only because once you have lost that feeling you may feel some form of depression without it. Good luck in all your ventures! Be WEll!
