This blog post is long overdue.  On Saturday April 17^th The Michigan Wolverine’s Sweepstakes club held its Annual Spring Meeting.  The meeting had a cloud over it this year as Carolyn Sayward, wife of Allen Sayward, President of the sweepstakes club, passed away the day before.  She had been ill for some time and had made Al promise he would hold the spring meeting, no matter what.  He kept his promise.

The meeting has been held in the same location since 2007, The Gazebo Banquet Center, and this year’s theme was Cowboys & Indians.  As usual, the event was very well organized.  Since Al was not himself, and many of us have known him and his family for years, more hands than usual pitched in to help keep things running along smoothly.  I helped organized the prizes.  WOW! Prizes were to be had by all.  There were almost 100 items on the prize table, plus Al had a stash underneath.  No one would leave empty handed.  He always plans a spectacular event.

Along with all the prizes on the prize table, they have various raffles such as; 50/50, lottery tickets, and envelopes.  I participated in many including the Gift Card draw.  I won a $50 Office Max gift card and a $50 Target gift card.  WOO HOO!

After another wonderful lunch, the costume judging began.

It was a wonderful afternoon with many of my U.S. sweeping buddies as I didn’t have to wait until convention to see them again.  Maybe I’ll see you there next year!
