Winning on Facebook

Posted on: February 3rd, 2013 by carolyn

FB iconRenata has not been winning very frequently on Facebook and sent me the following question:

I have a question about winning on Facebook. I haven’t been successful winning on Facebook even though I am entering constantly. Since my Facebook is for sweeps only, I don’t have any friends (I don’t want to waste time reading everyone’s posts) and I use my legal name on the entry forms not my nickname Facebook name (our families don’t know I sweep because we save prizes for gifts). Do you think this is prohibiting me winning on Facebook? Are there any tips for winning on Facebook? Thank-you!

Let me address all of your points.

I too enter constantly on Facebook.  I believe your question was prompted by the fact that 60% of the prizes I won last month were from contests I entered on Facebook.

I only use my legal name entering all the Facebook contests also.  Everyone should.  Otherwise, how would the sponsor know who legally won their giveaway?

Your problem is the fact you have chosen to have no friends on Facebook.  There is a reason it is called social media.  The idea is to be social.

My #1 tip is to always read the rules.  If you read the rules on Facebook contests you will find, more often than not, you will garner more entries  if you share the contest on your Facebook wall.  Many of my friends and I trade entries back and forth.  We both increase our odds of winning.  Sometimes it is the first one to post that gets the entries, and we take turns supporting each other.

Some promotions ask you to tag your friends.  If you have none, you won’t be able to enter.  When my friends tag me, I am alerted to a new contest and am able to enter a promotion I would have likely otherwise missed.

You say you do not want to waste time reading everyone’s posts.  I have almost 2000 freinds.  Do you think I can read every post?  I do not.  It’s impossible.  Each day I scan my Newsfeed a few times to see if there is anything interesting.  I also check my notifications as those are specific requests sent to me; to enter a contest, ask me a question, or notifying me if I have been tagged in some form or another.

You are going to have to change your Facebook entry strategy if you want to start winning.

GOOD LUCK!
