The Grand Finale

Last year I blogged about AVEDA’s Style To Win competition.  I was invited to the grand finale, but had a scheduling conflict and was unable to attend.  They liked what I wrote so much, they asked if I could I blog about it this year too.  In early February I posted Enter a Contest & Follow Your Dream.  Again, I was invited to the grand finale and this year I went!  It was an evening filled with fashionistas, stylists, paparazzi, journalists, bloggers, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, lights, cameras and excitement. Another TV Show Seeking Sweepers!

There is another potential show about sweepers on the horizon.  Here is the casting pitch from the production company.  Apply if you think it’s an adventure you would like to experience.

A Major Cable Network is in search of dynamic characters who LOVE to enter sweepstakes and contests!  This show is unlike ANY other sweepstakes program to date.  We want BIG characters with lots of personality, interesting hobbies or weird quirks who love the thrill of winning sweeps and contests! Praying For Each Other

In 2005 I discovered sweepstakes conventions and attended my first.  It was the 16th Annual National Sweepstakes Convention held in Moline IL.  It was also the first time I met fellow sweepers and felt I was home.  (That is best word I can use to describe the camaraderie I felt in that hall, yet it also feels like to weak a word.).  I met many people that year who have since become life long friends.  Not people I just share contesting tips and tricks with or help each other with online votes or leave cheery messages on one another’s Facebook page, but real friends.  People you share life’s ups and downs with.  People you love.  People you sometimes need to pray for.

Are Contest Winnings Taxable?

Hi,
I was wondering how contest winnings are taxable? If so, how does that work?  I thought I’d ask you since I know you are Canadian and have been contesting for years.  I just started in November.

I would like to tell everyone if you have a question, first check my website as I have been writing and blogging on various sweepstakes and contest topics for almost a decade.  You can either use keywords in the search bar found in the upper right hand side of every page or use Google and specify my website in the Advanced Search feature.

I answered Brenda’s question on January 9th in my post called Death & Taxes along with links to six other posts on the topic.
