After last year’s poorly executed contest, I knew Canada Dry would change its giveaway for 2024. I just didn’t know how—until now.

I went into the garage to put away a few groceries in the chest freezer, and sitting on top was a case of ginger ale. It was a promotional box advertising this year’s giveaway. The first word I saw was RECEIPT.

The number of giveaways using codes has been declining year after year; the annual Canada Dry giveaway was the last big contest offering codes on caps and bottles, and finally, after decades of looking for yellow caps and specially marked boxes, it has come to an end.

When you are looking at sweepstakes rules, you need to be looking for:

  1. eligibility
  2. dates
  3. frequency
  4. and any other clauses applicable to that specific giveaway, such as No Purchase Entry or judging criteria.

The full rules can be read online.
