Melanie Rocket is in the process of revising the CONTEST GURU’S GUIDE TO WINNING SWEEPSTAKES. What she needs are:
1) TESTIMONIALS. If the former editions of the book (even the WINNING WAYS book) have taught you anything about sweepstakes, or inspired you into action, or helped you create a new and exciting hobby, or have led to your winning contests, she would appreciate a testimonial.
Make your testimonial as SPECIFIC as you can, because readers are interested in details! They want to know what you learned and how it helped. They want to read about changing life circumstances and having fun.
If you have a testimonial please send it to Melanie. Please put “CONTEST TESTIMONIAL” in the subject line of your email.
2) CONTEST WINNER INTERVIEWS. If you regularly win sweepstakes contests, or have won a BIG prize recently, we want to interview you for the book. She’d like to include the stories of people who are active contest hobbyists and who are willing to share some of their successes and techniques with fellow contestors.
Either Melanie, or her assistant Mary, will call you and chat with you for 10 to 15 minutes. They will then write up a short profile and give you a sneak peek! If you have photos of yourself, and especially if you have photos of YOU with one or your prizes, she’d love to use those too!
If you wish to participate, please send an email to Melanie. Please put “CONTEST INTERVIEW” in the subject line of your email.
You can reach Melanie at melanie [at] mailhaven [dot] com.
I spent the day at the Canadian Gift and Tableware Association (CGTA) trade show. I found an interesting product line and I would appreciate your feedback as to whether or not I should begin selling them.
Let me take two steps back. As you may know, not only am I the Contest Queen, but for the past 20+ years I have also been a professional marketer. About a month ago I was contacted by Alphacritters. They had been successfully selling their name pictures for the past 10 years at festivals and fairs. The business was run by a mother-daughter team, Linda and Karen. All the “critters” had been created by Karen, who sadly passed away last year. (For the full story behind the company, please visit their website.) Linda promised to keep Karen’s legacy going. My job was to help Linda grow the business and keep her promise. The next logical step was to take the product to the retail market place. So we created a wholesale marketing plan and Linda rented booth space at Canada’s largest retail industry trade show.
Now one step back. Several weekends ago we attended the wedding of very close friends of ours up in Collingwood ON. At the Sunday brunch, one of the guests was wearing the most interesting flip flops. They were covered in little blue balls looking like sea foam and tucked in the “foam” were little fish and starfish. All the women were commenting on them. (Men don’t really care about such things!)
Back to the CGTA. While on a break, walking through the show looking for anything lucky I could add to my online store or sell on a convention vendor table, what should I see but the Canadian distributor for Hot Flops!
Not only did the have the oceanic flip flops, but they had all sorts of fun styles. The closest thing they had to lucky, was poker. I don’t think they fall into the lucky category, but they sure are fun!
I believe it can. Here’s how. In my book I have a chapter called Attracting Luck. Principle number four is : Have good chi flowing inside and out.
The chi is what needs to be in perfect balance within and around us to not only attract winnings but to have a joyous and prosperous life. I feel this is what has helped me get to where I am today, not only with contesting, but in life.
I feel if Bill C-51 passes, then I won’t be able to afford all the items I currently use to stay in balance (my inner chi) and neither will you.
What is Bill C-51? If Bill C-51 passes it will recategorize all the products many of us use everyday, such as Vitamin C, as “therapeutic products”. They would then be governed by the pharmaceutical companies and require clinical trials. When they passed a bill similar to ours in Germany, Vitamin C went from $8.99 for a bottle of 90 pills to $45.99! Plus you would need to visit a your family doctor, if you have one, for a prescription. Many people won’t be able to afford to use natural products to be healthy and they may become more prone to illness. We already have an overburdened health care system. We can’t afford to add to it.
What can you do about it? Visit Stop Bill C-51, sign the petition and use the printable downloads to write your local MP and MPP.
I received a great article by Enoch Tan last week titled Focusing - Channeling Energy Toward Time and Space. In it he talks about how luck is energy and since it an energy if you are vibration with it, you will be lucky. He states in order to maintain that frequency, you need to stay focused, which is a skill.
That is why I wear my I AM LUCKY bracelet, keep a piece of green aventurine in my pocket and wear my lucky oils. All of those items help me stay in the vibrational frequency of luck without any effort on my part except trust.
What do you do to keep yourself in the vibrational frequency of luck?
I have never had this happen to me (us) before. Almost every win we have had in May has a musical theme.
It began with meeting the Barenaked Ladies, followed by tickets to see Doc Walker and the Ann Murray Duets CD. Yesterday, my husband won the trip to Montreal to see the band Sam Roberts (via his cellphone - get texting if you have not started!). Today, I won tickets to see R.E.M. and a song download.
What an interesting winning streak. And the month isn’t over!
If you have been been a regular reader of my newsletter or blog, you know I am a big proponent of the Law of Attraction. Since I so strongly believe that “half the hobby is in your head”, Sandra Grauschopf of About.com decided to read The Secret to better understand what I have been talking about.
Like many people new to this type of thinking, Sandra did not like some of the points put forth in the book. (Read her review here.) I do agree with Sandra, that on the surface, some of the points do not seem right, fair and do not fit with the common perception of what our reality is as human beings.
I feel there is more to this planet than we (as human beings) will ever know. The Law of Attraction is just one piece of a very large cosmic puzzle. The reason many people can’t see the “big picture” or accept all the points, both good and bad, put forth in The Secret is, it is hard to imagine what the whole puzzle looks like with only one piece. (Read my response to Sandra here, comment #5.)
I list my favourite “puzzle pieces” in the Attracting Luck section of my website. Life is an adventure. Have fun finding all your pieces!
I am frequently asked, “What can I do to win more?” Besides entering, entering and more entering, I believe half of this hobby is in your head, and heart. What I mean by that is; you need to think you are lucky and a winner before you are lucky and a winner. You also need to feel lucky and like a winner before you are.
To give you a real life example, I attracted in two wins on St. Patrick’s Day. How did I do it? I had entered a postcard with five trivia answers to a local TV station as they were giving away a holiday in Ireland. I happen to be near the TV that morning so I tuned in to see who had won. They had yet to do the draw. I started to get excited (feeling lucky in the pit of my stomach) as I could still be a grand prize winner. When it came time to do the draw, they pulled out a big box covered in green paper and shamrocks. There were only about 500 postcards in there. My odds were good. I began to get butterflies in my stomach. The host drew out a card, and so not to give it away while the sponsor described the prize, he folded it and put it under the desk. My butterflies were getting much bigger. When the host pulled the card back up he tipped it up, ever so slightly, it looked like the one I had mailed in. I felt as if my name had just been called. In my mind, were already on the plane. It seemed like an eternity while the host checked the answers, and called out someone else’s name. I was so excited, and had been “vibrating at the same frequency” as a grand prize, that I knew I was winning something that day. At 11:30am I got a call on my cellphone. I won four tickets to see the Toronto Rocks from Molsons. I was so happy because I knew I had attracted in the win. Then to my surprise, at 5:30pm I got a call at home letting me know I won two tickets to see a play, Rose, from The National Post.
It was because I held the feeling of being a Grand Prize winner for so long that I attracted in two prizes that day. “If you can hold a particular vibration—feeling—for a minimum of 17 seconds you can manifest it into creation.” (Read full blog post—Abraham-Hicks—or watch the video below.)
Try this at home today! If you have ever won a grand prize, remember the feeling you had, bring it into your body, and hold on to that feeling as long as you can. If you are new to the hobby, remember a very exciting time in your life, bring that excitment into your body, and hold on to that feeling as long as you can. Better yet, hold on to that feeling while you are entering sweepstakes. Now, let me know what you win.
I like receiving my daily inspirational quote from JustSell. Yesterday I got something new. The email announced that they had launched a new website based entirely on the book The Luck Factor. (A book which, 1) I quote in my book and, 2) highly recommend as a good read. ) The website has great quotes, a downloadable e-book, The Complete Guide to Luckand even lucky wallpapers. ENJOY!
