Last year when I was filling out the application forms for this year’s event, Lane and I informed George he was attending. As it turns out he had the luckiest day of the family.
This year was especially fun as my sweeping buddy from California, Cortney, combined a vacation to Canada and a road trip with us to the party.
Friday, April 26th
We decided to wait until after rush hour was over to leave as we had to drive through Toronto on our way. We arrived in Port Huron MI in time to have a late lunch as one of my favorite American restaurants: Cracker Barrel. (Although I follow the WW program, I dove right in an enjoyed all the carbs.
No, those are not all mine. I only ate 1/2 a biscuit and 1/2 a cornbread.
We then ran errands to purchase the balance of our donations to the event. Stops at Meijer, Kroger, and Target netted us everything we needed.
Thankfully this year we arrived on time. We were checked in and downstairs just as the Pizza Party started.
I also made the rounds and got hugs from those I had not seen since the last sweepstakes event I attended in 2017.
Saturday, April 27th
We were up an at ’em bright and early to enjoy the breakfast buffet at the hotel before heading out early to help Al and Dianne set up their Party.
It was a full house with 100 in attendance.
As the event times had been changed to 10:00 am to 3:00 pm they started giving away prizes before lunch. We got off to a roaring start as Lane won the Early Bird gift bag.
The lunch was delicious as usual. We all had seconds. YUMMY!
As we had a lot on our plate this year, we did not enter the costume contest. Maybe next year! We have time to get creative.
George was our family’s big winner by ending the event by bringing a Chromebook home. We immediately gifted it to his son. I love winning prizes that are wanted and needed.
