Day 20 | August 14th
I woke up early as I had to beat the rush hour traffic as I was due in Fairfax VA for lunch. This was one of my favourite stops on the entire trip, because after chatting with Bill Carey, Vice President at RoboForm for over 8 years, I was finally going to meet him.
Thankfully, I had left early and I missed the rush hour traffic only to be slowed down by construction. I was only a half hour late to go to lunch with Bill and Michelle Goodliff, RoboForm’s Social Media Manager. After lunch it was back to the RoboForm head office to work. Michelle and I created a contest video and a special offer for my readers and followers.
As the contest finished August 31st, 2013 and it’s taken me this long to get back on track, I won’t bother sharing the contest video. However the special is still active, so if you have yet to start using RoboForm, you can get it at 1/2 price! Only $9.95 for the first year!
After work it was time to get to Velma and Dexter’s to stay for this leg of the tour. What I found cool was the geography of the area. Within a 10 minute period I drove through three states; Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia.
One of my favourite parts of the whole trip were the opportunities I had to spend time with friends chatting about the hobby and what was going on in each other’s lives in general. It was a lovely quiet evening at “home”.
Day 21 | August 15th
My original plan was to go sightseeing. I love the show Bones. Even though the building shown (labelled the Jeffersonian) is really the Dr. Theodore T. Alexander, Jr. Science Center School in Los Angeles, CA, I really wanted to go to the Smithsonian.
Velma and I headed out and stopped for a late breakfast at Cracker Barrel for a big breakfast. During breakfast, I received an email from a client. Like a good friend Velma wouldn’t let me go off and play. It was back to her house to work. I sat in her den drinking tea and writing until it was time to leave for the workshop at Mad City Coffee. We took up an entire corner of the store.
At this point in the tour, it was getting to be “old hat” as I had the format down pat. I was seeing old friends, making new ones, answered the same FAQs, gave out prizes, and generally had a good time teaching what I am passionate about. I was also missing my family and really glad I only had a week left.
