DAY 4

Al & Carolyn

The last morning of the convention, everyone looked so tired, including me. What fun we have all been having.

The session began with announcements. First up was Gwen Beauchamp talking about the 28th Annual National Sweepstakes Convention, a Sweeper’s Escape. It’s a Caribbean cruise taking part the third week of September 2017.

Next up was Joyce Margo of the Carolina Sweepers. The 2018 Annual national Sweepstakes Convention will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina. Details to follow as the hotel is still being negotiated.

Due to the timing of the cruise in 2017, I am doing what I never vowed to do. Help host another convention. The cruise doesn’t fit everyone’s budget or schedule, including mine, so I offered to help Courtney Sneller make it a success. The contract has yet to be signed, but right now it looks like it will be July 27th-30th 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County. Only save-the-date. Do not book any rooms or airline tickets until we create the website and make an official announcement. I am estimating the site should be live by September 30th. If you would like to help in any capacity, email me and we will add you to the volunteer list.

Carolyn & RhondaThen hilarious stories were read out. They were entries into a convention contest about what types of crazy adventures sweepers can find themselves on while chasing a prize. My favorites were when Wendy won tickets to an off Broadway show only to discover it was a western gay review and Velma’s when she found herself in a line to pay last respects at a funeral palor while searching for a drop box.

You may not have noticed, but I posted zero pictures of prizes this year as i did not win one thing. The convention organizers wanted to ensure no one was to leave empty handed. They gave everyone who did not win once all weekend a $25 Amex gift card.

As the convention ended at 11:00am, and I wasn’t leaving until the next night, I got to spend the rest of the day sightseeing with friends.

What a fantastic city Las Vegas is. So much to see and do. I will go back, but not when it’s 45º every day. (I think I will win a trip! LOL!)
