I decided it was finally time for me to take my own advice.

Excerpt from How To Win Cash, Cars, Trips & More!

Your Profile

I recommend you complete your profile on every social account you own. It gives your account credibility which is appealing to sponsors. They do not want to be giving away prizes to eggs, color bars, or silhouettes.

If you don’t want to use a picture of your face, pick something happy and real in your life like your pet, flowers from your garden, your sports car, etc. Cartoons or nothing at all make your account feel fake.

Be sure to complete all areas including the banner, avatar, description, etc. I would avoid putting sweeper, winner, contest, comper, etc. as it may make you appear greedy.

That said, those words are included in all my profiles as I use them for both work and play, but my profiles are written as a business account, not a personal one. I also believe it hinders me and reduces my chance of winning. Legally it shouldn’t, but who is to say a marketing manager doesn’t like who I am and draws another name.

Personal Accounts vs Business Accounts

What made me take the leap and setup personal accounts for entering sweepstakes? And what took me so long? What was the tipping point?

What took me so long was a combination of laziness and sheer number of social media accounts. I have two sets of business accounts (Contest Queen and Idea Majesty) for everything; websites, blogs, newsletters, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and TikTok, along with a LinkedIn account. Then the social media platforms started adding layers: lives, stories, reels, shorts, groups, etc. The thought of adding a third account to almost all platforms was too much.

The tipping point for me was not winning several very low entry sweepstakes that had fairly substantial prizes. I believe it was because I entered as the Contest Queen.

That was it for me. I was done. I set up all new accounts for entering sweepstakes. Every other sweepstakes aggregate, newsletter, etc. all separate their hobby from their business. I was the last holdout. Not any more.

I will continue to use Contest Queen to teach, host giveaways and promote client sweepstakes, but if I enter, it will be as me. Feel free to tag me if you need a friend to get an entry on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or TikTok.

Blank or Sweeper Accounts

I made sure when I set up my personal accounts, that I completed them. Headshots, banners, descriptions, etc. Why? Companies want to give away prizes to real people, fans, customers, etc.

If you have been entering a lot on social media and you have an empty avatar or are Suzy Sweeper, and you have not been winning, it’s time to update your account.
